Glacier Bay Sportfishing exists today because of my career effort to promote Southeast Alaska's rich and spectacular land and waters in a manner that is rewarding to visitors even in those moments when the fish aren't biting.
A day of fishing in Alaska is an extraordinary gift and opportunity to experience the last primal wilderness on earth.
I feel that just limiting my clients experience to catching fish would be a shame. A day of fishing should be fun, exciting, and filled with new discoveries.
In 1985 I started professionally guiding in Southeast Alaska. 1986 was the year that I acquired a U.S. Coast Guard Passenger Carrying License. (I am also certified in CPR and First Aid.) Soon after, in 1987 my business was founded (Explorations Northwest) in Petersburg which then was moved to Elfin Cove in 1989. Many years later in 1996, I moved the business to Gustavus and more recently changed its name to Glacier Bay Sportfishing.
I have always enjoyed people and found the opportunity to meet so many different people from different places a fascinating and rewarding experience.
