Captain Mike
Glacier Bay Sportfishing exists today because of my career effort to promote Southeast Alaska's rich and spectacular land and waters in a manner that is rewarding to visitors even in those moments when the fish aren't biting. A day of fishing in Alaska is an extraordinary gift and opportunity to experience the last primal wilderness on earth. I feel that just limiting my clients experience to catching fish would be a shame. A day of fishing should be fun, exciting, and filled with new discoveries.
I started professionally guiding in Southeast Alaska in 1985. I started my business (Explorations Northwest) in 1987 in Petersburg. I moved my business to Elfin Cove in 1989. In 1996 I finally moved my business to Gustavus and recently changed my business name to Glacier Bay Sportfishing. I have held a U.S. Coast Guard Passenger Carrying License since 1986. I am certified in CPR and First Aid. I have always enjoyed people and found the opportunity to meet so many different people from different places a fascinating and rewarding experience.
